Overview
dogwifhat (WIF) is a meme coin on Solana, launched in November 2023. Its mascot is a real Shiba Inu named Achi, photographed wearing a pink knitted hat — the “dog wif hat” (dog with hat) that became a viral image. The token was created by anonymous developers, with no team allocation.
In early 2024, WIF became the face of the Solana meme-coin boom. Its value rose from almost nothing to over $4.8 billion in about four months. Fans even crowdfunded hundreds of thousands of dollars to put the dog on the Las Vegas Sphere, a symbol of the mania of that period.
How it works
WIF is a simple token on Solana. It has no app, no blockchain of its own and no plan beyond being a meme. All of its tokens were in circulation from the start, so there are no unlocks and no team selling.
People buy WIF to speculate on its price and to be part of the community. Its listings on major exchanges such as Coinbase, Binance and Robinhood made it easy to buy.
The WIF token
| WIF at a glance | |
|---|---|
| Supply | about 999 million WIF (fixed) |
| Price (21 Oct 2026) | about $0.21 |
| All-time high | about $4.83 (March 2024) |
| Market cap | about $210 million (#183) |
Because supply is fixed and fully released, WIF’s price depends only on demand. That demand has fallen sharply since 2024 as attention moved to newer meme coins. In early 2026, WIF briefly jumped to around $0.43 before sliding back.
Risks
- Pure speculation. WIF has no revenue, product or use. Its price is driven by sentiment alone.
- Attention fades. New meme coins launch every day, and most lose their audience over time.
- Volatility. With a smaller market value than before, WIF can move 20% or more in a day.
- Scams. Many copycat tokens use similar names; always check you are buying the real WIF.

Our verdict
dogwifhat is a piece of crypto history: a simple meme that became a multibillion-dollar token in the 2024 Solana boom, with a clean, fixed supply.
But it has no utility, and its price has collapsed about 96% from the peak as the craze faded. WIF is a pure gamble: if you buy it, use only money you are fully prepared to lose.
