Overview

The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI) was formed in 2024 by three of crypto’s oldest AI projects: Fetch.ai (led by Humayun Sheikh), SingularityNET (led by Ben Goertzel) and Ocean Protocol. Their tokens were merged into FET, which became the alliance token. CUDOS joined later.

The goal: build open, decentralized AI as an alternative to big tech, from AI agents to computing and data.

How it works

  • Fetch.ai builds tools for AI agents, such as Agentverse and the ASI:One AI assistant.
  • SingularityNET works on AI research and a marketplace for AI services.
  • ASI:Cloud offers AI computing, and an ASI:Chain Layer 1 is planned for late 2026 or 2027.
  • FET is used to pay for services, to stake and for governance.

Ocean’s exit

In October 2025, Ocean Protocol left the alliance, accusing the other members of breaking an agreement about control of assets; the other side disputed this. The disagreement remained unresolved in 2026 and weighed on the token. The planned rename of FET to ASI was never completed.

The FET token

FET at a glance
Maximum supply about 2.71 billion FET
In circulation (Oct 2026) about 2.31 billion
Price (29 Oct 2026) about $0.18
All-time high about $3.45 (March 2024)
Market cap about $415 million (#119)

Risks

  • Governance turmoil. The Ocean dispute shows the alliance’s fragility.
  • Adoption. It’s unclear how much real demand exists for its AI products.
  • Competition. Bittensor, AI agent platforms and big AI companies move fast.
  • Hype cycles. AI tokens rise and fall with AI news.

Our verdict

The ASI Alliance brings together experienced AI teams with real products, but its governance problems and slow adoption have hurt FET badly. FET is a high-risk bet on decentralized AI. Invest only what you can afford to lose.
