Most new coins don’t release all their tokens at once. Tokens held by the team, early investors and the project’s treasury are locked and released on a fixed schedule. On an unlock day a large amount of new tokens can suddenly be sold, so traders watch these dates closely. Here are the next unlocks of 30 major coins.

How to read an unlock

  • Size next to the circulating supply matters most. $50 million is nothing for a coin worth $50 billion, but a lot for one worth $300 million. That is why we show the percentage.
  • Who receives the tokens. Team members and early investors often bought very cheaply and may sell. Ecosystem and treasury tokens are usually spent slowly, as grants and rewards.
  • Step or every day. A “cliff” releases a big block on one day. Daily (linear) vesting adds a little every day, which is easier for the market to absorb.

Do unlocks push prices down?

Often, but not always. Big team and investor unlocks have often seen prices weaken in the weeks before, as traders sell early. But unlocked tokens are not always sold: they may be staked, kept or sold slowly. Hyperliquid’s team, for example, has claimed only a small part of what it could each month.
